We all make a difference

It is the eleventh hour. As climate emergency is declared we are launching the 4.5 Trillion Project.

An estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts are littered every year around the planet. Millions of tonnes of toxic single use plastic, butts don't bio-degrade and can take up to 15 years to break down into micro-plastics which are harmful to any natural life w not already wiped out by the toxins.4.5 trillion is incomprehensible as a number. You would have had to have dropped one every day since the beginning of time to drop the amount estimated to be dropped every year at present.

I'm challenging the world to pick up 4.5 trillion cigarette butts in the next year. Many people may laugh. I don’t mind. Many may say I'm a dreamer. I say dreamers change reality. Many will say it's impossible. I say turn it around. If I set a challenge to manufacture 4.5 trillion plastic pellets primed to break down into micro-plastics, cover them in paper, make them radio-active and infuse them with thousands of toxic chemicals and then spread them all over the world in just one year, you would say that that was impossible. Yet according to the best estimates available, that is exactly what is happening now.The macro breaking down into the micro whether in plastics or politics is detrimental to all, we can help to reverse the trend and take micro actions to provide a macro solution. If a sub-set of the world's 1.1 billion smokers can drop 4.5 trillion butts, then 7 and a half billion people can sure as hell pick that many up.

We're all human. Whether we are billionaires or beggars, we will all die in the same way if we don't protect our environment.Let's work together, across borders internationally, let's build bridges and not walls, lets unite the world. If you don’t know where to start, start small. Go out now with a washable gardening glove and an old jar and collect 100 cigarette butts. And see where the journey you start with that small step takes you. If you don’t think that one small being can make a difference, try spending the night in a tent with a mosquito.I'm challenging the whole of humanity to come together and collect 4.5 trillion cigarette butts in the next year. 4.5 trillion micro actions to transform the macro picture.

4.5 trillion. 1 year.

Go! And good luck.
